Do:

  • Listen to the child / adult
  • Take what the child / adult says seriously
  • Act fast
  • Share your worries with Adult or Children and Young People’s social care services, the Police or the NSPCC – they are there to help you
  • Continue to offer the child or adult support

Don’t:

  • Put it off
  • Press the child or adult for explanations
  • Leave it to someone else to help the child / adult
  • Be afraid to voice your concerns; the child or adult may need urgent protection and help
  • Tell the parents or adult if sexual abuse is suspected

Remember:

Any child or adult anywhere can be abused at any time. Disabled children and adults are especially vulnerable. Abuse can be committed by anyone – adults or children.
